The Church That Taught a City to Swim!

The Pool at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is a community outreach ministry that fulfills the Church’s mission.  Since 1921, the Good Shepherd Pool has been serving its mission to provide the Riverside/Avondale neighborhoods, as well as all of Jacksonville, with a welcoming, safe and healthy public aquatics facility that fosters personal growth and wellness for all.  Good Shepherd (affectionately known as the ”Church of the Good Swimming Pool” and the ”Church That Taught a City to Swim”) recognizes that swimming is a great low-impact exercise that helps build core strength, flexibility and balance.

Our large heated indoor pool offers lap swimming, swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and physical therapy throughout the week.  Lessons and trainings are conducted by resident coaches, instructors and physical therapists.

As a result of COVID-19, we have put in place a few policies to ensure everyone's safety, specifically:

- All swimmers must make an appointment to swim.  Click HERE (or bit.ly/jaxpool) to make an appointment, or you may call the pool office (904) 387-4298.

- At this time, we are not acccepting walk-in swimmers.  You must be a pool member in order to swim.

COME ON IN AND GET WET!  We would love to have you join us.  To become a member of the pool, please call the office (904-387-4298) during office hours to sign up.

We look forward to seeing you at the pool.
