The pool that taught a city to swim!

The Pool at Good Shepherd is a community outreach ministry that fulfills the Church’s mission.  The mission of the Good Shepherd Pool is to provide the Riverside/Avondale neighborhoods, as well as all of Jacksonville, with a welcoming, safe and healthy public aquatics facility that fosters personal growth and wellness for all.  Good Shepherd (affectionately known as the ”Church of the Good Swimming Pool”) recognizes that swimming is a great low-impact exercise that helps build core strength, flexibility and balance.

Our large heated indoor pool offers lap swimming, swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and physical therapy throughout the week.  Lessons and trainings are conducted by resident coaches, instructors and physical therapists.

As a result of COVID-19, we have put in place a few policies to ensure everyone's safety, specifically:

- All visitors to the pool are required to wear a face covering while in the pool facility (except while in the pool and showers).

- All swimmers will need to make an appointment to swim, as well as complete two new waiver forms.  You may make an appointment HERE (or, or you may call the pool office (904) 387-4298.

- At this time, we are not acccepting walk-in swimmers.  You must be a pool member in order to swim.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unsettling times.  We look forward to seeing you at the pool.
